Pallone Announces Sandy Aid Funds for Oceanport (USA)

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced that Oceanport, NJ will be receiving more than $3.69 million in federal funding to replace the city’s Borough Hall, which sustained severe damages as a result of Superstorm Sandy.  Pallone also announced that $2.98 million will be allocated to repair the seawall in Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright, which was damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

The funding for both projects is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Sandy aid package Pallone fought for in Congress.

“These grants help to lessen the financial hit that our local governments still face as communities continue to recover from Sandy,” said Congressman Pallone. “And as we continue to rebuild, we have a unique opportunity to improve our public infrastructure so it is stronger and can withstand future storms.  I am grateful that FEMA recognizes the importance of these ongoing efforts in New Jersey.”

Oceanport, NJ will receive $3,696,437.80 in federal funding to rebuild their Borough Hall, which was deemed unrepairable after Superstorm Sandy.  The funding announced will cover the costs for demolition and disposal of the 8,358 square foot building and the construction of a new concrete block building, built to current codes and standards with steel roof joists on an elevated pile foundation of seven feet to meet the 500 year floodplain.

Another allocation of $2,985,948.00 is being awarded to repair the seawall along Ocean Ave. in Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright in Monmouth County.  The project will address damages in the seawall at three different locations.  Work will be done to repair all three damaged areas along the seawall, including removing sand, furnishing and installing cap stone, sealing the top of the jetties with concrete grout, and backfilling the area with sand.
