Vijai Marine Services Delivers 11 Vessels Over Last Twelve Months

The last 12 months witnessed an unprecedented compliance to delivery schedules with 11 vessels (IRS class) being handed over by Vijai Marine Services (VSM).

The company has made significant investments in development of technology, human capital as well as shop-floor processes over the last decade to see meaningful results today. On an ongoing basis, the company also adopts ‘green measures’ to protect the environment on one side and reduce its cost of manufacture on the other.

Of the 11 vessels, 4 vessels (bottom door opening hopper barges) were delivered to the Maharashtra Maritime Board, as part of their dredging equipment procurement.

Similarly, the Gujarat Maritime Board also reposed confidence by awarding VMS with a contract to build three vessels (one spud pontoon and two hopper barges); deliveries for which were executed this year.

The hopper barges had Steerable Rudder Propulsion (SRP) installed and the spud pontoon was fitted with an excavator.

Also delivered to the Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation at Kochi port was a 650 DWT oil tanker for carriage of petroleum products.

Our ability to deliver was on test in the last months. I am delighted at this new level of success achieved by us. I take this opportunity to thank our valued customers and congratulate every team member at VMS who has helped in achieving this exemplary feat,” says Suraj Dialani, Business Head, Vijai Marine Services.

On the passenger side, VMS delivered the first of its kind, high-end luxury passenger vessel to a Mumbai company for their new hospitality venture of a floating hotel in Goa.

Another two vessels were delivered to the Goa Shipyard Ltd., one being a fishing research vessel (for Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi) and the other being a berthing pontoon for Director General Naval Project (DGNP) to be put alongside India’s recently acquired aircraft carrier Vikramaditya, which was inaugurated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister on 14th June 2014.

VMS is an acclaimed leader in the field of coastal / inland shipbuilding offering a wide repertoire of vessel options (service / utility boats, bunker barges, tugs, pontoons, tourism vessels etc.) To further its commitment to the industry, the company is on the anvil of setting up a facility for fibre boat manufacturing as well.
