Training Institute for Dredging Holds Pump and Slurry Transportation Training

From 19 to 22 May, an international group of participants from seven different countries participated in the pump and slurry training course, organised by the Training Institute for Dredging (TID).

The tuition was given at TID’s premises in Kinderdijk and proved to be a great success once again.

During the four-day course, the emphasis was placed on the hydraulic transportation of solids/water mixtures with centrifugal pumps and through pipeline systems on a detailed level. The training covered all the main aspects of pumps and slurry transportation, and their relation to dredging operations and production calculations in practice.

Following the course, the participants are now able to understand and explain the physical processes involved in hydraulic slurry transportation and perform basic calculations.

In this training case studies are used to bring the subject to life and to teach the theory behind the pump and slurry transportation processes. The case studies illustrate the presented knowledge and show participants how to apply this in typical working situations.

The next open TID training opportunity in Kinderdijk is the general dredging course, scheduled from 15 to 26 September 2014.
