Picture of the Day: Dredger Essayons at Work (USA)
The Essayons, a Corps-owned and operated hopper dredger, recently removed 1.6 million cubic yards of shoal material from the Cook Inlet Navigation Channel.
The project was completed with the help of the Westport, a suction dredger owned and operated by Manson Construction.
Dredging is a necessary maintenance operation for harbors to allow safe passage of marine vessels.
