Coalition Funding for Carisbrook Flood Protection

The Victorian Coalition Government, Central Goldfields Shire and the Commonwealth Government have today announced funding of $553,000 to deliver the first stage of a flood management plan for Carisbrook.

Visiting Carisbrook today with Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan, Minister for Water Peter Walsh said stage one of the plan involved selecting and designing the most effective flood mitigation works, and thinning vegetation in McCallums Creek and Deep Creek.

The Coalition Government is committed to helping rural and regional communities rebuild from the 2010 and 2011 floods, and to be better prepared for future flooding,” Mr Walsh said.

The Victorian Coalition Government will provide $266,385 for the project through FloodZoom, part of a $4.2 million investment in flood related projects in 2014. The Commonwealth Government will contribute $146,615 through the Natural Disaster Resilience Grants Scheme (NDRGS) and the Central Goldfields Shire Council will contribute $140,000.
