Dredging at Keppel Shipyard Set for Next Week

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has informed shipping, harbour craft and pleasure craft communities in Singapore’s waters that dredging work at the Keppel Shipyard Benoi Road, off West Jurong Channel, will commence on 28 July 2014.

This deepening work will be carried out by the grab dredgers which will be held by 4-point anchoring system.

The dredging vessels, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 m radius centered at the dredgers. The dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges.

During the operation, the dredgers will be attended by tug boats, which will be used to shift the dredgers.

The completion of this deepening program is scheduled for 30 September 2014.
