Jacksonville District Prepares for Dredging Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has presented a plan for the Intracoastal Waterway – Jacksonville to Miami maintenance dredging project.

This deepening scheme will involve removal of approximately 308,000 cubic yards of shoaled material from the Intracoastal Waterway Indian River Reach 1 to a required depth of 12-ft plus 2-ft allowable overdepth (MLLW).

The dredged material will be placed into the existing IR-2 Dredge Material Management Area (DMMA), located approximately 5.0 miles south of Cut IR-1 and 0.5 miles west of Cut IR-4.

The total cost is estimated between $1 mln and $5 mln, and proposals will be due on or about September 3, 2014.
