Birmingham City to Consider Chemicals for Quarton Lake

Birmingham City to Consider Chemicals for Quarton Lake

After researching and evaluating available options for the removal of the floating leaf vegetation from Quarton Lake, the recommended treatment options include using approved aquatic herbicides, announced bhamgov.org.

The matter will be discussed at today’s Birmingham City Commission meeting on the 2nd floor of City Hall. Members of the community are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the treatment plan.

Other treatment methods used in the past have included dredging various portions of the lake and mechanical harvesting.

In order to truly be effective and follow best practices to reduce and/or eliminate removal of floating leaf vegetation, the additional treatment methods of the lake will be necessary to further control the excessive vegetation.
