The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, has awarded a $57.6 million contract for the Ocean City Southend Beach Replenishment project to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., Oak Brook, Illinois.

The contract, announced yesterday by the Department of Defense, follows October’s announcement that GLDD was the lowest bidder for this project.

Project area extends approximately 16 miles from Great Egg Harbor Inlet to Townsends Inlet, and includes the municipalities Ocean City and Sea Isle City, Cape May County, New Jersey.

The project costs, funded by the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Appropriations Act 2013, will be split by federal government at 65 percent and the state and local government at 35 percent.

An estimated completion date for the project is January 18th 2016.
