New Harbor Ruchyi Canal Put into Operation

The newly reconstructed approach canal in New Harbor Ruchyi has been put into operation in Ust-Luga seaport. The project, carried out under the “Development of Transport system of Russia (2010-2020)” program, was performed by FSUE “Rosmorport”.

During the last stage of the works, approx. 405.700 m³ of soil was dredged up, bringing the depth in the canal to a level of 9.4 meters. This includes both the marine terminal operation waters near berth No. 1, aimed for RO-RO cargo transshipments, and the turning basin area.

Also, the depth in the approach canal was raised to 9.7 meters. Total budget investment, spent on the present project financing, reached $9.1 million.

Realization of the New Harbor Ruchyi approach canal project in Ust-Luga seaport will allow vessels with dimensions of up to 140 meters in length, 22.7 meters in beam and with draft up to 7.35 meters to safely enter the New Gavan marine terminal.
