TID Project Staff Training a Great Success

Last November an international group with seven different nationalities participated in the Project Staff training, organized by the Training Institute for Dredging (TID). The course was given at TID’s premises in Kinderdijk and proved to be a great success.

The five-day course was based on earlier successful tailor-made training programs organized by TID at the request of its broad customer base. It has been designed specifically to improve the skills of project engineers, superintendents and project managers with up to three years’ experience in dredging.

The Project Staff Training focuses on operational management roles in dredging operations. It allows the participants to expand and improve their knowledge and skills for managing a project, based on the hard numbers relating to each project. The main topics covered were working methods, production and cost calculations, planning, effective communication, and reporting and responding to opportunities and threats.

The interactive program incorporates classroom-based training, supported by practical case studies, workshops and discussions. The case studies are used to illustrate the subject matter and ensure that participants can apply this knowledge into practical everyday working scenarios. This training course was the last open TID training opportunity for 2014.

Preparations for 2015 however have already started. The calendar for open training programs at TID’s premises in 2015 is available on the TID website and for those wanting to give 2015 a jump start, there is still the possibility to register for the TID Cutter Suction Dredger Simulator training which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, starting March 16, 2015.
