Van Oord Orders Two Dredgers 

Van Oord has ordered two trailing suction hopper dredgers with a hopper volume of approximately 17,000 m3.

Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said recently that the digging rate was beyond expectations due to efforts exerted by the Egyptian army.

Pieter Schelte in Rotterdam 

Today at 2 pm, the Pieter Schelte arrived in Rotterdam. With a length of 382 metres and a phenomenal width of 124 metres, this is the biggest ship in the world. It was designed and developed by the Dutch-Swiss offshore company Allseas.

Wärtsilä: Engines for One of the World’s Largest Dredgers 

One of the world’s largest non self-propelled cutter dredger vessels, which is also one of the largest of all cutter dredgers in the world with 5200 kW of cutter power, will feature Wärtsilä engines, both to generate power and to drive the dredging pump.

UKD Bluefin Gets New Dredge Monitoring System

The “UKD Bluefin” has undergone a complete refit of the Dredge Monitoring System. Damen delivered all required software and hardware for trailing pipe and loading process monitoring, making use of the existing sensors on board. The refit was done within two weeks during a scheduled docking resulting in zero downtime.
