Works on a $1.31 billion Middle Harbor project at the Port of Long Beach are in full swing and in line with the construction program.

The Middle Harbor will combine two aging container terminals into one of the world’s most technologically advanced and greenest facilities.

The nine-year project, will double the port’s capacity and support 14,000 new jobs — while cutting air pollution in half. Works are underway to upgrade wharfs, water access and storage areas, as well as add a greatly expanded on-dock rail yard.

Construction works on the project started in spring 2011. The project is being delivered in two phases.
