Houston City Council: Corgey Unanimously Reappointed

Dean E. Corgey was unanimously reappointed Port Commissioner of the Port of Houston Authority yesterday by Houston City Council.

Mayor Annise D. Parker cited Corgey’s broad experience and how it qualifies him to be a member of the Port Commission.

Not only does he bring a labor perspective to the commission, but he also brings an understanding of how ports around the world connect with Houston,” she said.

He chairs the Community Relations Committee and serves on the Procurement and Small Business Development and Dredge task forces.

Corgey has been vice president of the Seafarers International Union (SIU), responsible for the Gulf Coast region since 1990. He supervises SIU activities from Charleston, S.C., to Brownsville, Texas. He also serves as vice president of the international union.
