Experts to Discuss Flood Risk Alleviation Schemes

Royal HaskoningDHV’s experts will discuss the successes of the Moray and Littlehaven flood risk alleviation schemes at a conference in Scotland this week (3 and 4 February 2015).

Royal HaskoningDHV’s Associate Director Barbara Hellett will co-deliver a presentation on the Moray Flood Schemes, together with Dave Gowans, consultancy manager with project partner the Moray Council. The presentation will focus on the performance of the schemes during the floods of August 2014.

Technical Director Nick Cooper will also be giving a presentation on the award winning £5 million seawall and promenade scheme to transform Littlehaven Beach in South Shields and provide robust sea defense. Project partner Tony Hanson from South Tyneside Council will present alongside Nick.

The event is for flood risk management professionals, flood engineers, development planners and other stakeholders.

Other speakers will be from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Transport Scotland, Scottish Water, Scottish Canals, Forestry Commission Scotland, Historic Scotland, UK Environmental Law Association as well as many other organisations.
