Cleanup Plan Proposed for GE’s Plant

A public meeting is planned on a proposed cleanup plan at a General Electric site on the upper Hudson River, contaminated with PCBs.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation has scheduled the meeting for 7 p.m. tomorrow in Hudson Falls. Written comments will be accepted on the cleanup plan through March 19.

The plan focuses on a PCB-contaminated groundwater plume beneath the GE capacitor manufacturing plant in Fort Edward. The plan also calls for monitoring well installation and groundwater sampling, as well as seepage and surface water sampling in the Hudson River.
