Ukrainian Ports Gear Up for Dredging Projects

Ukrainian ports are about to undertake several capital dredging projects this year, according to the Andrey Amelin, Chairman of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).

The total amount appropriated for these project totals approximately $43 million.

The Ilyichevsk Port development program will involve the reconstruction of the sea approach channel with the new depth to reach up to 16 m. In Odessa Port the approach channel will be 14m deep, Mykolaiv – 11.2m, Reni – 4.5m, Kherson – 8.25 m, Specialized Sea Port Oktyabrsk – 11.2m, announced APK Inform-Agency.

In Mariupol Port, the channel depth will reach 9.15m and its water zone 9.75 m, in Berdyansk, the channel depth will reach 8.55m, and the water zone 8.4m.

The Yuzhny Port continues the dredging and there are conditions for capesize vessels with draft of 18.5 m to enter the port.
