DEME, an international group of specialized companies in the field of capital and maintenance dredging, land reclamation, port infrastructure development, etc. has announced that their part of dredging works on the New Suez Canal are on schedule and 50% of the job is completed.

 

Boskalis to Build 2nd Artificial Island in Panama 

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has been awarded a contract from Compañía Insular Americana, S.A. to construct a second artificial island off the coast of Punta Pacifica in Panama City.

 

Exceptional Year for Van Oord 

The year 2014 was exceptional in many ways, Van Oord, a Dutch contracting company that specializes in dredging and land reclamation, announced today. From a financial perspective, Van Oord achieved a record turnover of EUR 2.104 billion (2013: EUR 1.641 billion). It is the first time in the company’s history that its turnover has exceeded EUR 2 billion.

 

Suez Canal Authority to Borrow $450 Million 

The Suez Canal Authority is currently in negotiations with local banks for a bridge loan of $450 million, Egyptian financial daily Al-Mal reported yesterday.

 

Third Runway on Reclaimed Land

The Executive Council of Hong Kong has endorsed the three runway plan and asked the Airport Authority to take forward the project, which is estimated to cost $141.5 billion.
