DIMI: Next Generation Storm Surge Barriers

Delft Infrastructures & Mobility Initiative (DIMI) is organizing a series of meetings on Deltas & Ports of the future. On 10 April the in-depth colloquium will be on the next generation storm surge barriers.

Central theme will be the design and planning of barriers. US coastal city Houston Galveston, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, will be used as a case.

This large metropolitan area is at significant risk from surge flooding due to hurricanes. The Houston Galveston case is also an integral design case for TU Delft students from Architecture, Civil Engineering and TPM and their ongoing projects will be displayed.

The debate takes place from 14.45 till 17.30 hrs and is open for students, researchers and professionals that have an interest in flood risk reduction and planning for urbanized delta regions.
