DELWP to Host Meeting on Brighton Renourishment

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is inviting people to attend a community information session on Monday, April 13, to discuss planned renourishment works at Brighton beach.

Regional Director Port Phillip Kelly Crosthwaite said: “The beach, at the end of New Street and South Road, has depleted over time and needs renourishment to protect the foreshore and widen the beach.”

“In addition to the sand, two new rock groynes will help stabilize and keep sand in this rocky area.”

“DELWP is working with Bayside Council and a coastal engineer and will hold a community information session so people can meet the project team and discuss details of the renourishment one-on-one.”

The community workshop will be held at the Council’s Sandringham office at 76 Royal Avenue, between 6pm and 7pm.
