Supporting Infrastructure in Southeast Louisiana

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has announced the capital construction proposal for the next fiscal year (FY 2016), which includes millions in funding for projects in Southeast Louisiana.

The proposal was submitted to the Legislature in the form of House Bill 2 and includes several investments in higher education and infrastructure projects.

Governor Jindal said, “This year we are supporting many key projects throughout our state, including valuable investments in higher education and healthcare, as well as improvements to our local roads and infrastructure. These investments will ensure that we are making Louisiana one of the best places in the country for people to get a job and raise a family.

Some of the announced transportation and infrastructure investments in the Southeast Region include:

  • $4 million for the Lafitte area tidal protection in Jefferson Parish.
  • $3 million for the hurricane protection system from Larose to Golden Meadow in Lafourche Parish.
  • $2 million for slip dredging and improvements for the Terrebonne Port Commission Government Multi-Use complex in Terrebonne Parish.
  • $1 million for the Milan Upland Yard improvements for the Port of New Orleans in Orleans Parish.
