The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, will host an Industry Day for small business government contractors on May 28, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. at the district’s headquarters building in Galveston.

The purpose of the event is to present upcoming work for fiscal year 2016, help small businesses navigate through the contracting process and provide an opportunity for companies to network and meet potential vendors and subcontractors.

“ We consider small business to be the heart of the U.S. economy and a vital part of the Corps’ procurement process ,” said Ken Adams, USACE Galveston District director for small business programs . “ Industry Day will allow attendees to network and share lessons learned, success stories and contracting best practices and provide a venue to learn about potential future partnership opportunities. ”

The one-day event will include morning, early afternoon and late afternoon sessions.

Panels to be hosted by the Corps include: Operations and maintenance, construction, renovation and alteration, and architecture and engineering. Firms interested in presenting capabilities briefings should express interest to brief the panel(s) by name.

According to Adams, the USACE Galveston District has a diverse mission that encompasses primarily civil works projects; the bulk of projects are dredging or dredging-related requirements such as levee repair, hydrographic surveying, dredged materials placement area repair, soils and water testing.
