Picture of the Day: North Topsail Beach Project

The fifth phase of the North Topsail Beach Shoreline Protection Project is moving ahead.

Construction works, undertaken by Norfolk Dredging Company, started in late 2014 near 3588 Island Drive with the aim to reach the Surf City line.

Sand for this restoration project is being taken offshore of North Topsail Beach and pumped onto the beach via pipeline. During the project, approximately 1,500,000 CY of sand will be dredged and delivered to the beach.

At the moment, Norfolk is making progress through the Village of Stump Sound. The beach is temporarily closed from 106 N Permuda Wynd north in this neighborhood.
