Mouchel Shortlisted for BCI Award

Mouchel’s Herne Hill & Dulwich Flood Alleviation Scheme, delivered in partnership with Southwark Council, has been shortlisted for the British Construction Industry (BCI) Awards in the Project of the Year – under £10m category.

The £4.28m project involved teams from across Mouchel and was jointly developed as a partnership between Southwark Council, the Environment Agency (EA), Thames Water and its contractor Morrison Galliford Joint Venture.

The area is prone to flooding and was seriously affected by storms in 2004 and 2007 which caused millions of pounds of damage to many homes and businesses.

Our design team worked collaboratively with the Partners and the local community to understand the incumbent flooding mechanisms in the Herne Hill & Dulwich area, to help inform the design and implementation of an innovative solution to enhance future flood protection, providing protection for some 400 homes,” Mouchel stated.

The work was completed in December 2014 and the official launch took place in May.
