Mordraga Trainee Program Starts

Last Monday, June 8th, Mordraga LLC, member of the DEME Group and located in St. Petersburg, Russia, signed an agreement on academic cooperation with one of the oldest universities of Russia – the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping.

The University boasts a title of a major hub for preparation of crew members and surveyors in the North-West of Russia and owns a training center with 44 state-of-the-art simulators for marine industry.

The long-term agreement tackles such areas of cooperation as promotion of advanced dredging technologies, cadet & student traineeships on sites and vessels of the DEME Group and staff visits to the University’s simulators in Russia as well as the company’s simulators in Belgium. It is planned that the first eight cadets will begin their traineeship on DEME vessels already in July 2015 on Sabetta project in the North of Russia.

Innovative dredging technologies and historical legacy of the DEME Group in Russia serve as a foundation for strengthening commercial standing of Mordraga LLC in the country.

The roots of the company’s presence go back to the beginning of XXth century, when it was involved in construction of the port in Tallinn, then a part of the Russian Empire. 100 years later, Mordraga LLC is experiencing a growing demand for highly-qualified Russian staff.

Cooperation with Admiral Makarov University sets a solid platform for securing leading marine expertise at hand.
