Scituate Hosts Event on Coastal Erosion

Two environmental experts from state agencies will talk Tuesday night in Scituate, Massachusetts, about the process of coastal erosion and storm damage and options for protecting the fragile coastline.

Geologist Rebecca Haney from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management will join coastal geologist Jim Mahala from the State Department of Environmental Protection as the keynote speakers.

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Scituate High School auditorium.

Earlier this year, Scituate was one of 22 communities nationwide chosen to receive technical assistance from the Environmental Protection Agency to get help strengthening its flood resilience in the face of climate change, rising seas and worsening storms.
