The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord visited the dredge Essayons at its dry dock berth last week.

In addition to checking out the bridge, engine room and galley, they got a unique view of the underside of the ship.

These enrichment tours provide battalion-level engineers the opportunity to learn more about the work done by their civilian counterparts in the Corps, as well as get a glimpse of the dredging operations, something they might otherwise not encounter during their military careers.
