More Discussions on New Suez Canal Project

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting with head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish on Thursday to discuss updates on the New Suez Canal project and other annexed projects.

During the meeting, President Sisi directed the SCA to upgrade the East Port Said harbor and a nearby industrial and logistic zone, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

The work on second waterway has been 87 percent completed, with around 40 dredging machines which completed 100 percent of dry dredge and 87 percent of the whole dredging works. The new plans and ideas for upgrading the port and the industrial zone were also introduced at the meeting.

The opening of the new waterway is scheduled for August 6, 2015.
