ALGAS Anchorage Reclamation Extended

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has informed shipping, harbor craft and pleasure craft communities in Singapore’s waters that the working period for reclamation, sand re-handling and soil investigation works off LNG/LPG/chemical gas carrier (ALGAS) anchorage has been extended.

The operations will now be conducted from July 2, 2015 until January 1, 2016, MPA stated.

The reclamation and sand re-handling works will involve removal of rock shore protection and sand re-handling at designated Sand Borrow Area (DSBA).

Soil investigation work will be carried out by means of borehole drilling using jack-up barges. The jack-up barge, with tug boats in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 meters radius centered at the barge.

Tugboats will be used for shifting the barge from one borehole location to another.

The crafts involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
