The State Information Service said that about 232.800 million cubic meters of water-saturated sand has been dredged so far as part of the Suez Canal Development Project.
This represents 90.6 percent of a total 258 million cubic meters that should be dredged, the Head of the Suez Canal Authority, Mohab Mamish, said.
The inauguration ceremony of the new waterway is scheduled for August 6, 2015.
