More Money for Newfoundland and Labrador

Senator David Wells announced today that the Government of Canada will invest in improvement projects at three Newfoundland and Labrador small craft harbors.

This funding will provide a safer and more efficient working environment for fishermen and harbor users.

Since 2006, our Government has continuously made major investments that create opportunities for Canadians and encourage the prosperity of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are proud to continue to support the industrious people of Flatrock, Change Islands and Sweet Bay. As always, we will continue to ensure safe and efficient working conditions for those who depend on these harbors,” said Senator Wells.

This investment of up to $3.17 million will enable the following projects to be undertaken over the next two years:

  • Flatrock – reinforcement of the existing breakwater and installation of a spray wall;
  • Change Islands – reconstruction of the wharf adjacent to the fish plant;
  • Sweet Bay – construction of a concrete launchway.
