Picture of the Day: Memphis Continues Tradition

For many decades, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, has maintained the capability to fabricate specialized parts and equipment for its fleet of dredges, workboats and other equipment.

The black and white photo taken in March 1939 show some of the Corps employees pouring a brass casting in the foundry at the old U.S. Engineer Supply & Repair Depot near West Memphis, Ark.

Work to fabricate unique parts and equipment continues today at USACE Ensley Engineer Yard on McKellar Lake in south Memphis using highly sophisticated technology.
