Pakistan’s Port Projects on Display

A six-member South Korean delegation earlier this week paid a visit to Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) where they discussed possible partnership opportunities related to the ports and shipping sectors.

The delegation led by Director of Port Investment Cooperation Division Hi Young Lee showed real interest in various projects including development and upgrading of the country’s port infrastructure, maritime training, dockyard development and dredging.

During the visit, the PNSC chairman presented a few proposals including the enhancement of Pakistan’s port infrastructure, reconstruction of oil pier – 1 KPT, dredging opportunities, operations of harbor crafts and construction of ship building facility.

The delegation asked to be sent the details of these projects through Ministry of Ports and Shipping.

The Koreans were also informed about the recently undertaken projects including dredging of the Karachi Port that made the port capable of handling 13-meter draught vessels.
