VIDEO: Gold Coast Dredging Program

The Tallebudgera Creek dredging project is currently underway, announced City of Gold Coast.

This $913,000 dredging campaign is an integral part of our efforts to maintain and replenish sand on our beaches ready for summer,Mayor Tom Tate said.

Each day some 1000m3 of sand is being pumped around the Burleigh Headland and along southern Burleigh Beach from where natural processes help spread it north.

“Once finished here the dredge will move onto Currumbin Creek to renourish southern Palm Beach with some 40,000m3 of sand from the creek mouth.”

Mayor Tate added that the sand replenishment and seawalls were key actions of the City’s $11 million overall investment in the beaches this year.

The Tallebudgera Creek dredging is scheduled for completion by September, prior to the school holiday period. The Currumbin Creek works are scheduled to finish by December 2015.
