Picture of the Day: Utrecht in Besiktas

Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger “Utrecht” has entered Besiktas Shipyard where it will receive some repairs in the shipyard’s dry dock.

The scope of works include replacement of sliding piece, replacement of overflow cylinder, some accommodation floor repairs and replacement of trunnion gantry bearings.

This is not first dredge project for the yard. Since the beginning of shipbuilding and ship repair activities in 2009, Besiktas Shipyard has become one of the most preferred repair destinations in Mediterranean, performing approximately 200 vessel repairs each year.

Before the “Utrecht”, the shipyard completed two extensive repair projects for Deme and Jan de Nul in 2014. Now the shipyard is working on Van Oord’s TSHD Utrecth and WID (Water Injection Dredger) Iguazu.
