Dutch Delegation Visits Jakarta

Royal HaskoningDHV is joining the Maritime Business Delegation accompanying Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, to Jakarta from 24-28 August.

Arriving from Rotterdam, home to Europe’s largest sea port, the Maritime Business Delegation’s visit to Jakarta coincides with a period of major construction in the Indonesian maritime sector.

The country plans to construct 24 new ports within the next five years to reduce transport delays and waiting times at ports and raise the country’s global competitiveness.

Current maritime projects

Royal HaskoningDHV is involved in the following major maritime projects in Indonesia:

  • Kalibaru Container Terminal, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta
Royal HaskoningDHV is supervising the construction of the extension of the main port of Jakarta. The first phase includes development of a new 4.5 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container terminal.
  • Kuala Tanjung Port, Sumatra
With planned capacity of 2 million TEU/year by 2019, construction is divided into four phases: development of a multipurpose terminal, industrial estate, transhipment centre, and residential area. Royal HaskoningDHV has been involved in the market study, port master plan, concept design of port structures, and overall feasibility assessment. The result is an integrated business and investment plan to raise investor interest in the development of Kuala Tanjung Port as a hub port.
  • Teluk Lamong Terminal, Surabaya, Java
This is a huge port under construction in what is the second largest city in Indonesia. Royal HaskoningDHV has provided a market study, concept design and feasibility study for a reclamation intended as a back-up area for the new Teluk Lamong Terminal facilities.
  • Belawan port expansion, Sumatra
Belawan is Indonesia’s third largest port. Its expansion will increase terminal capacity from 1.2 million to 2.2 million TEU/year. Royal HaskoningDHV is technical advisor for the development.
