Public Hearing on Scituate Beach Replenishment

Plans to replenish a badly eroded beach in North Scituate will be discussed at a public hearing on September 1 in Scituate High School Auditorium, beginning at 6 p.m.

This meeting comes eight months after selectmen approved a $127,140 contract with Applied Coastal Research and Engineering of Mashpee for design work for beach replenishment.

The presentations will provide the results of the site-specific analyses utilized to assist in the development of long-term shore protection alternatives for North Scituate Beach.

The preferred alternative includes large-scale beach nourishment consisting of mixed sediments, ranging from sand to cobble to protect the shoreline between Well Rock and #35 Surfside Road.
