The Karnataka Government and the Lakshadweep administration have signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a dedicated jetty at Old Mangalore Port, the Business Line reports.

The project will also include the construction of a 300 meter long wharf for vessels and cargo, passenger lounge, warehouse and a certain amount of dredging work.

Mohammed Faizal, Member of Parliament from Lakshadweep, said that the proposed jetty will improve the trade relationship between Mangaluru and Lakshadweep islands.
