Kwai Tsing Dredging Continues

For a period of approximately 3 months, dredging operations will be carried at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals 7 and 9 North.

The dredging will be performed by a grab dredger with two tug boats, four hopper barges and one motor survey boat assisting in the works, reported the Hong Kong Marine Department (MARDEP).

According to the notice, the number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements. A working area of approximately 50 meters around the grab dredger will be established.

The project continues previously completed dredging of the container terminals 1, 2, 4 and 5.

The dredging of the seabed of the Kwai Tsing terminals will provide sufficient depth in the container basin and approach channel for the safe navigation of the new generation of ultra large container ships.
