IADC Takes Part at SMART Rivers Event

IADC (International Association of Dredging Companies) has presented the latest findings on contaminated sediments at the PIANC’S SMART Rivers 2015 Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Presenting about how to identify, clean, remediate and treat contaminated sediments, IADC on Tuesday, September 8th 2015, delivered a paper on, “Dredging Contaminated Sediments for Ports and Waterways Development“.

Using case studies, dredging experts tried to explain the latest technologies in management of Contaminated Dredged Material (CDM).

The IADC’s Secretary General René Kolman described “The sources and types of contamination and the environmental consequences when CDM is improperly handled”.

The SMART Rivers event is a biennial forum bringing together those involved in river transport form developing and developed countries in the world. The conference – taking place from 7-11 September 2015 – is placed under the umbrella of PIANC, the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure.
