Waldringfield Flood Scheme Wins Award

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) was the host of the East of England Merit Awards 2015 last Thursday night at the British Racing School near Newmarket.

ICE East of England presents its Merit Awards every year to celebrate and recognize outstanding civil engineering. This year’s top awards went to the M25 Section 5 and Huntingdon Railway Viaduct.

Among the winning projects was also the Waldringfield Flood Defense Scheme. The project addressed issues of managing flooding and erosion risks which threatened the development of the Waldringfield coastal economy.

The scheme was funded, designed and constructed within 12 months by the Environment Agency, JacksonHyder working closely with the Waldringfield Flood Defense Group (WFDG).
