Yakima River Scheme Open for Comment

A program to manage about six miles of Yakima River shoreline within the city of West Richland is open for comment through the Washington Department of Ecology.

The proposed shoreline program will guide development projects along West Richland’s shoreline.

It combines local plans for future development and preservation with new development ordinances and related permitting requirements.

West Richland adopted its shoreline plan on April 7. Once approved by Ecology, the city’s shoreline program will become part of the overall state shoreline master program.

Comments will be accepted through November 20.
