Thinadhoo Contract Inked

The Ministry of Environment and Energy and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have signed an agreement for the design/construction of coastal protection structures in the Barasil Area of Gdh.Thinadhoo.

The project includes construction of 462 rock revetments at the south east side of the island with some beach renourishment work in the area.

Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, signed the contract on behalf of the Ministry, and the MTCC CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, inked the deal on behalf of the contractor.

The purpose of this $1.4 million scheme is to renourish, protect and prevent the areas of the island vulnerable to erosion from further deterioration.

The project is expected to be completed within 200 days.
