Bogor Hosts Dredging Seminar

The Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation in Bogor, Indonesia, held for a week at the end of October, was organized by the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) in conjunction with Indonesian Port Corporation (IPC) Corporate University.

The event was aimed to provide key staff and decision makers of port management and professionals with practical knowledge of the dredging industry.

Attendees had a full immersion course on the dredging industry by learning about the need for dredging and how dredging and reclamation can contribute in the development of new ports and the maintenance of existing ports.

The lectures also gave a thorough look into the different types of dredgers and equipment used in the industry, the need for soil investigation and surveying in dredging, hydraulic fills and how tender processes work.

The seminar also included a trip to the New Priok Container Terminal where participants gained an insight on the major port project that is currently in development in Jakarta, Indonesia. The New Priok is an extension of Tanjung Priok, the busiest port in the country.
