Rossall Sea Defenses Scheme Moves Ahead

The Wyre Council has just released a video that shows progress on the Rossall Sea Defenses Scheme.

“We are replacing sea defenses from Rossall Hospital to Rossall Point, a stretch of around 2km, to protect 7500 properties from the risk of coastal flooding,” the Council said.

Around 285 meters of piles were installed in the third piling visit and in total 785 meters have now been installed, they stated in its November update.

After the piling visit, placement of rock in the revetment continued with 6000 tones of primary rock being placed.

A geotextile membrane is placed behind the piles underneath the structural fill, of which 32,000 tonnes have now been placed.

Upon completion, this coastal defense scheme will protect 7,500 properties from the risk of flooding.
