Bridlington Harbor and Marina Plans on Right Track

Plans for a Yorkshire Harbor and Marina in Bridlington are progressing very well, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Bridlington Harbor Commissioners announced.

The Council and the Commissioners have now entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to reflect the commitment of the parties to work together to deliver the proposal.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This announcement is yet more good news for Bridlington and demonstrates this authority’s commitment to regenerate the town, expand its tourism offer and strengthen its reputation as a top visitor destination.”

The new harbor and marina will include:

  • a new main south pier and an extension to the north pier;
  • improved facilities for the town’s fishing fleet, including vessel maintenance and storage facilities;
  • a new marina with berthing space for circa 250 leisure vessels, etc.

To bring the project forward, the council has seconded its head of planning and development management, Pete Ashcroft, to the newly-created post of director of Yorkshire Harbor and Marina Project. In this role, he will work closely with the commissioners and the wider community to progress the scheme.
