Duwamish Dredging Project Enters Final Phase

J.E. McAmis of Chico, CA has nearly completed the 105,000 cubic yards of dredging work on the Duwamish Waterway in Seattle, WA.

The company mobilized crews and equipment from their Longview, WA facility and began dredging on 1 December 2015.

Dredging is being performed using the DB Heidi-Renee and two ocean going split hull dump barges. All dredging is projected to be completed by the end of the year.

To maintain the entire 5.5 miles of the Duwamish Waterway, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers must remove accumulated sediment from the upstream settling basin (known locally as the turning basin) every one to three years.
