VIDEO: Construction of Anchorage Park New Flood Defenses

This video, published by the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP), is showing construction of the new flood defenses at Anchorage Park.

It was the first stage of the multi-million pound Flooding and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Scheme being developed across the north of Portsea Island.

The major coastal defense project, undertaken by Team Van Oord, included areas along the north of Portsea Island between Ports Creek Railway Bridge and Kendall’s Wharf.

The rock that was used for the project was imported from Larvik in Norway and has been specially selected due to its strength, weather resistance and durability.

These new embankments and rock revetments will provide a 1:500 year standard of protection, which is one of the highest in the country outside of London.
