The City of San Luis Obispo Council approved a contract award to MNS Engineers, Inc. last week, for phase I of the Laguna Lake Dredging and Sediment Management Project.

The MNS team will provide engineering design options for this dredging project, expected costs and financing options, as well as environmental review and permitting for the project.

Public engagement opportunities will be taking place in the late winter/early spring time frame, and city staff expects to return to the city council in early summer to determine the final project design selection.

The council has allocated $450,000 in its current financial plan toward dredging and sediment management, which can pay for updated studies, project designs and engineering, permits and a finance plan — but not the physical construction of the project.
