Felixstowe Maintenance Dredging Scheme in Full Swing

The trailing suction hopper dredger Ham 316 started the maintenance dredging operations at the berths and approaches to Felixstowe this week, the Harwich Haven Authority announced in its latest Notice to Mariners.

The dredger, which has large, powerful pumps and engine that enable it to suck up sand, clay, sludge and even gravel from sea bed, will work in these areas for a period of approximately 10 days.

The materials dredged during the project will be placed of at the Inner Gabbard disposal site.

The plough dredger Norma and the survey vessel Shamrock will be supporting the operations.

Lights and shapes will be exhibited as required by the Collision Regulations, the Harwich Haven Authority stated.
